I have been thinking a lot today about some of my most memorable Christmas's. The one from my childhood that sticks out in my mind, is the year of the cabbage patch dolls. My parents did not have a lot of money and those dolls were impossible to get anyway. I remember mom working secretly on something. Then Christmas morning came. She had made each of us girl's a homemade cabbage patch doll. We were so excited. We loved them! She sat on the couch and cried. She was worried that we would be disappointed it was not the real thing. We couldn't have cared less. I will never forget her sacrifices in our behalf. Thanks mom for all you did!
We also always did 12 days of christmas for a family in the neighborhood every year. I loved helping deliver and keeping it a surpise what family we were doing.
A more recent memory is a few years ago. Jarrett had been out of work for a few months that summer. As Christmas came we knew it would not be a big one because we were still recovering financially. As it got closer some angel did the 12 days of Christmas for us. Every night we would wait with great excitement with the kids to see what would come. I will always remember the TRUE feeling of christmas in our home that year. That kind service will never be forgotten.
I recieved a Christmas card from a dear childhood friend last Christmas. It talked about how her fondest memories of her childhood where with me. It made my whole month. I hope as I think of the kind and thoughtful acts that have been done in my behalf, that I also might do kind things. My we all keep Christmas simple and celebrate Christ!
